On Sunday, May 3, 2020 our Lord was faithful and called Wilhelmina Smith Williams to her everlasting home. She is now at peace in heaven with no more pain and suffering. Wilhelmina was born August 1, 1946 to the late Scarborough and Etta Mae Campbell Smith in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She attended public schools in Guilford county and graduated in the class of 1964 at William Penn High School. She went on to further her education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. Wilhelmina worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years before retiring. During her service at USPS she gave of her time and talents as both a steward and officer for the American Postal Workers Union Local Area 711 for more than 25 years; advocating for and assisting her fellow postal workers.
Wilhelmina was known as a kind, generous and fun-loving person who loved her family dearly. Throughout her life she took enormous pride in the accomplishments of her son and later her grandchildren. Before retirement and declining health, she lived an active life and loved to travel. She was often known to get off a plane after a trip and go straight to work.
Wilhelmina leaves to cherish her memories a loving son Wayne Smith(Lori) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren Latasha Rorie of High Point, NC, Alexis Smith of Orlando, Florida and Wayne “Christopher” Smith, Jr of Jacksonville, Florida; siblings Arthur William Smith (Eunice) of Strongsville, Ohio; Audrea Brewington of Trinity, NC and Scarborough Smith, Jr of High Point, NC; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
