Mrs. Lou Jean Calloway Pearson was born to Mr. Johnny Calloway, Sr., and Mrs. Nealie Mae Haywood Calloway, on June 8, 1945, in Mount Gilead, Richmond County, North Carolina. She silently submitted her spirit to the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020, in High Point, North Carolina, where she has resided since 1963. Lou Jean attended and graduated from Mineral Springs High School in Ellerbe, North Carolina, and later moved to High Point, North Carolina, where she met and married Mr. John Richard Pearson, of Bennettsville, South Carolina, in 1967. From this union, they had three beautiful children.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Lou Jean instilled in her family to love unconditionally, and if you give God some of your time, you can never go wrong in life. Lou Jean retired from GP Foam Fabricators in 2010, and, prior to her employment there, was employed with Adams-Millis Hosiery Mills for over twenty-five years. She was a faithful member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church for 53 years and served on various committees, which included singing on the Gospel and Combined Choir, serving as the president of the choir for a number of years, and later becoming the treasurer. She was also a member of the Missionaries. In recent weeks, while at home and unable to attend church, she had learned how to stream the church service, as well as attend Bible study online. Lou Jean was a wonderful, caring, and good-hearted person. She had a quiet, yet angelic spirit, and loved to talk about the Lord. She was an awesome cook and enjoyed doing puzzles in her spare time.

Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Pearson, Sr.; daughter, Tracy Pearson; brothers, James, Johnny Jr., and Bill Calloway; and sisters, Dotsie Mae Calloway, Elizabeth Robinson, Blanche Crump, Ethel Martin, and Irene Tyson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her daughter, Trinia Pearson of the home; her son, John (Kristy) Pearson, Jr., of Kannapolis, North Carolina; stepchildren, Steven (Monica) Pearson of Athens, Alabama, and Esther (LaBryant) Ashworth of High Point, North Carolina; remaining sisters, Florence Calloway of Westbury, New York, and Betty Jean Ledbetter of High Point, North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
