Andrew Scott, affectionately known by family and friends as “Scott,” or “Cornell” was born February 15, 1953, in Darlington, South Carolina to Gladys E. Scott, and departed his earthly life on March 8, 2023.
He attended public schools in Darlington, South Carolina, and moved to Thomasville, North Carolina at the age of 16 years old. He was employed with Vitanoven for over 25 years until his retirement.
Scott was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who loved his family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, playing softball, and talking with friends and family.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys E. Scott, brother, Elliott Scott (Betty Lou); wife, Marieko T. Scott; granddaughter, Alise Andrea Fountain, and daughter, Melanie Renee Scott Wright.
He leaves a legacy of love to his child, Clinton Tyrone Payne; two children that he raised as his own, Shirley Jean Payne and Brian Eugene Payne; three grandchildren, Tyrone Antonio Payne, Zakiya Payne, Malaya Kadence Jordan, and Cayden Montrey Fountain; one great grandchild, Tauren; one living aunt, Christine Williams of Philadelphia, P.A.; brothers, Joseph Scott, Larry (Tillette) Scott, Randolph (Lizzie) Scott, Horace (Leinda) Scott; sisters Josephine (Carl) Bacote, Jo Ann Scott, Lola Scott, Julia Mouzon, Eileen (Israel) Bonaparte; a special friend, Dessie “Dae Dae” Hare, and sister in-laws and brother in-laws; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
