Wilson Edward McCallum

Deacon Wilson Edward McCallum 82, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at his residence after a brief illness.

He was born on June 27, 1943, in Rowland, NC, to the late Benjamin F. McCallum Sr. and Isabella Hargrove McCallum. He graduated from Southside High School in Rowland, NC in 1963.

Wilson, who was affectionately called “Buddy Boy,” was the oldest of the seven children. He loved his brothers and sisters and looked forward to talking and hanging out with them.

On December 20, 1963, Wilson married the love of his life, Mary Lee Brand, and they were married for 60 years. They were blessed with three beautiful children.

Buddy Boy was known for his laughter, smile, calm personality. He showed love to everyone. He was loved by his nieces and nephews. He was known for his famous “Buddy’s Lemonade” he was assigned to bring it to all family events.

At an early age, Wilson became a member of Salem Methodist Church in Rowland, NC. After moving to High Point, NC, he joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a dedicated member. He was an ordained Deacon, a member of the male choir, and served joyfully on the maintenance facility team, and served faithfully in many other capacities.

Wilson worked for many years at Alma Desk and Thomas Built Buses. After retiring from Thomas Built Buses, Wilson, who had a love for caring for people’s lawns, he became an entrepreneur and started Wilson’s Lawn Care.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, and a beloved grandson, Antonio T. Davis Sr., and a beloved granddaughter, Joanna W. McCallum.

Those left to cherish his memories are his sons, Pastor James (Anita) McCallum of Jamestown, NC, Timothy McCallum of Charlotte, NC; his daughter, Jacqueline McCallum Davis of High Point, NC; his sisters, Kathleen M. (Grover) McRae, Betty J. Bridgers, and Joyce A. Baker all of Rowland, NC, Lorene McCallum of Newark, NJ; his brothers, Benjamin F. (Melba) McCallum, Jr. of Rockingham, NC and Ralph E. (Patricia) McCallum of Charlotte, NC. his aunts, Louvenia Graham of Bensalem PA, Ossie Clemons of Rocky Mount, NC and Yvonne (Hercules) Baker of Dillion, SC; his uncles, Odell McCallum Jr. of Little Rock, AR, and Elder Hector McCollum, who was like a big brother to him of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Tadarrius Davis, Teon Davis, Darrin Watson, Charity McCallum, Jessica (Darius) Baxter; great-grandchildren, Zynirah Evans, Antonio Davis II, Lile Davis, Nolan McCallum, Kylee Baxter, Jaiden Baxter, A’mani Kollock, Josiah Watson, Liam Cook; brother-in-law, Bishop David Terry; sisters-in-law, Apostle Angeline (Cal) Sumpter, Mother Betty Wall, and Ms. Mary Brand all of High Point, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
