Willie Coker

Willie E. Coker, age 71, entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Pruitt Health Facility in Rockingham, NC.   Willie had a long battle with liver and kidney complications along with other issues as well.

He was born in Fayetteville, NC on December 4, 1948, the second son of George H. Coker Sr. and Dorothy V. Griffin Coker.  The family relocated to Ashville, NC then they later moved to Washington, DC because his father began working as a civil service employee with the US Government.

Willie graduated from Alexander Graham Bell High School in Washington, DC.  After graduation, Willie worked part-time then he later decided to take the advice of his brother and enlist in the US Air Force.  After basic training Willie attended Technical School for additional training to become a Weapon and Munitions Specialist.  Willie was later deployed to Phan Rang AB Vietnam for one year.  After deployment Willie came back to the United States and completed his four years of enlistment.  After separation from the military, Willie married and began a career in the Computer Industry as a Computer Maintenance Technician in Chapel Hill, NC, involving programing and maintenance.   He worked there for several years and later retired in 2017.

Willie is survived by two sons, Edwin Coker and Eric Coker; six grandchildren, Teshara, Josiah, Hannah, Noah, Micah and Jonathan; four brothers, George H. Coker Jr., Foreignor (Cynthia) Suite, John C. Coker and Timothy (Carolyn) Coker; one sister, Sharon E. Coker McBride; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
