Obituary

William Owen Fowlkes was born April 23, 1946 in Crewe, Virginia to the late Robert Owen and Catherine Fowlkes. He was educated in the NYC public school system and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

William met his high school sweetheart Mae L. Hamilton and was married in 1965. From this union 3 children were born: Michael, William Jr., and Michelle. William was a hard worker and loved his family. At the ripe young age of 26, he had his first home built from the ground up and proudly relocated with his wife and young children from Brooklyn, New York to Freeport, New York (Long Island). William and Mae devoted their lives to raising their children and was married for 43 years.

William worked many years as a skilled electrician. He later transitioned to real estate, purchasing properties for rental. Following his true passion, William became a licensed car dealer and enjoyed sharing his business expertise.  With genuine love, William kept all of his vehicles well maintained and immaculate in appearance.  He also enjoyed gardening and proudly sharing the fruits of his labor with family.

After the passing of Mae, William was blessed to later remarried Carrie Belle Hayes on April 27, 2018 and they lived happily together in Highpoint, NC.
