Wheeler Lewis

April 4, 1926 — January 11, 2013

Wheeler Andrew Lewis, 86, departed this earthly life on Friday, January 11, 2013, at his residence. He was born on April 4, 1926, in Plymouth, NC, to the late Partha Mann Lewis.

He received his formal education at Washington High School in Mt. Vernon, NY. Mr. Lewis accepted Christ as his Savior in 1989 and joined Temple Memorial Baptist Church in High Point, NC, after relocating from Mt. Vernon, NY.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Austin Lewis on December 29, 1989, in High Point.  Wheeler later joined Hallelujah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur Byrd and Pastor George Steele.

Mr. Lewis enlisted into US Air Force in 1955, serving his country for nine years and was honorably discharged. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for 18 years. Mr. Lewis enjoyed bowling and watching cowboy movies. He would look forward to eating his sister-in-law's, Ms. Jessie's fried chicken, her cake topped with lots of icing and drinking her Kool-Aid.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one son.

He leaves to cherish memories to his loving wife, Mrs. Mary Austin Lewis, five sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law, one daughter and two sons.
