Deacon Walter Charles Pratt, 80, of High Point, North Carolina, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center.
Walter was born on August 16, 1945, in Lilesville, North Carolina, to the late James and Verdell Pratt, and was raised there.
Walter proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for three years, attaining the rank of Corporal and earning the Good Conduct Medal. After his military service, he built a successful career as a Certified Diamontologist and Tax Preparer, managing Zales and Kay Jewelers. His love for jewelry, professionalism, and attention to detail were well known.
A devoted man of faith, Walter served as a Deacon at Living Water Baptist Church, where he was respected for his leadership and servant’s heart. He was known for his memorable laugh, humorous spirit, and his love for cars. Walter had a special way of lighting up every room he entered.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, James and Verdell Pratt; his son, Torey Poole; and his brother, Jessie Pratt.
Walter was survived by his wife, Mary Pratt; two daughters, Patricia (Michael) Downs and Regina Baldwin; three sons, Jerry (Carol) Wright, Eugene (Erica) Wright, and Frederick Wright; one brother, Jerry Pratt; one sister, Barbara (Wilbert) Dow; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Walter Pratt was truly a joy to all who knew him, and his legacy of faith, laughter, and love will live on forever.
