Vicky Renett Strawberry Medley was born to the late Johnnie Strawberry and Norma E. Little Strawberry on February 28, 1957, in Tuskegee, Alabama. She entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2024, at the FutureCare Pineview Rehabilition Center in Clinton, Maryland.
Major Vicky Renett Medley (Retired) received her early education in the Guilford County Public School System. Upon graduation, she enrolled at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and graduated in 1979 with a BS Degree in Nursing. After graduating from NCCU, she joined the United States Army for three years, in 1988, she received a Direct Appointment as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. She served faithfully for 21 years active-duty years. In her vigorous efforts to achieve higher goals, she enrolled in Colorado Technical University and earned her Master of Science, Management Degree in Human Resources and Health Science Management in 1999. Her military career afforded her the opportunity to travel and serve in San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, Kaiserslautern and Ramstein, Germany, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Waldorf, Maryland.
She was a member of Jericho City of Praise Family Ministries in Landover, Maryland. Vicky was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. One of her biggest impacts was spreading the gospel not only to her family, but to most people that she met. She was undeniably a prayer warrior. By her bedside, she kept her favorite pink and black Holy Bible, "Woman Thou Art Loose," by T.D. Jakes, Vicky absolutely loved gospel music
Some of her favorites were, "I remember Mama" by pastor Shirley Caesar, Woman Thou Art Loosed, (Spoken Word) by Bishop T.D. Jakes and her top favorite, "When I Pray" by DOE, one of her favorite churches was the Maranatha Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C, in Germany. Vicky was one of those mothers, that had biblical art hanging in her bathroom, 2 Corinthians 5:8 was a scripture she often recited.
Vicky was not only preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Norma Strawberry, but also by her sister, Phyllis Strawberry Means.
Sharing her legacy of love and mourning her passing are her husband, Maurice Medley, of 47 years of Clinton, Maryland; two children, Marshika Medley Hale (James) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Maurice Medley Jr., of Tampa, Florida; her beloved grandchildren, Marsheid Boyd, Marlon Boyd, Sincere Hale, Miahjah Boyd, James Hale II, Aaliah Medley and Victoria Medley, Mother-in-Law, Ms. Rosa Lee Medley of High Point, North Carolina, an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
