Valerie Ann Simon-Hairston peacefully transitioned on May 12th, 2024, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Davidson County.
She was born on September 5th, 1967, to Elbert Carter and the late Lois Simon in Thomasville, NC.
Valerie's educational journey began in Thomasville City Schools, culminating in her graduation with the Class of 1985.
Following her passion, she pursued hairstyling in Atlanta, GA, and later delved into Criminal Justice at DCCC.
Initially starting her career as a substitute teacher, Valerie embraced her students as her own, leaving an indelible mark with her warm smile, thoughtful Facebook posts, and dedicated contributions to her beloved Thomasville community.
Her spiritual foundation was rooted in her early devotion to Christ, finding solace and fellowship at Brown New Calvary Baptist Church before becoming an integral part of Friendship Baptist Church. There, she poured her heart into various ministries, including the pastor's anniversary committee, youth department, dance committee, and choir.
Valerie was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Simon, and her grandparents, Cassie Simon-Ratliff, James Simon, Ollie Carter, and Clara Carter, as well as her great-niece, Krislee Rivers.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 22 years, Frank Hairston of the home, her children, Jaytari Simon-Hairston and Khriy Simon and her cherished grandchildren, Kayori Ezekiel and DreamLynn Emerson; her father, Elbert Carter.
She is also survived by her brothers, Kernelle Brock and Tracy Brock, sisters Allison Young and Gracie (Jonathan) Hopkins, sister-in-law, Tonie Davis, godbrother Lacardo Means, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
