Rufus Lee Terry, commonly known as "Bubba Gump", 55, of Ogden, KS, passed away Wednesday, July 6th, in Topeka, KS.
Rufus "Bubba Gump" was born in High Point, NC on April 17, 1961, the son of the late Redell Terry and Luella (Tayrham) Vereen. He worked for Co-Van Moving Co. and Reliable Moving as a packer; he attended Ledford High School, Thomasville, NC.
he attended Pilgrim Baptist Church in Manhattan and the Ogden United Methodist Church.
Rufus is survived by a daughter, Ashley Smith, of High Point, NC; a son, Deshawn Terry, of Manhattan; five sisters, Darlene Terry, of High Point, NC; Josephine Mitchell, of High Point, NC; Debra (Bernard) Howard, of Ogden; Jackie Terry, of Thomasville, NC; Caroline Vereen, of Grandview Plaza; two brothers, Walter "Nick" and companion Mary Ann Jackson, of Manhattan; Bernard, (Missy) Terry, of Greensboro, NC; and a grandson: Weston Terry; and step-father, He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brothers, Johnny Terry and Robert Lee Terry.
