Rosie Mccall

April 25, 1920 — May 14, 2007

Rosie Mae McCall departed this earthly life on May 14, 2007, at High Point Regional Hospital. She was born in Clio, SC, a daughter of John C. and Lucille Hines Braswell. She welcomed Christ into her life at an early age and was a member of New Zion AME Church. She was united in holy matrimony to Elijah McCall Sr., and from that blessed union six children were born.

After her children relocated to High Point, NC, they tried to convince their parents to join them. Rosie Mae and Elijah Sr were reluctant to leave their home in Clio, SC, however, after receiving guidance from God, they relocated to High Point, NC to be with their children.

Rosie Mae loved her position as wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She took pride in being the family matriarch. She was quick to remind her family, "we are not here to stay." On the night that she passed, she told her daughters she was getting ready to leave them. Yes, she had made her "peace and election sure." As a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, she was known for her love for the clergy and members. In the final stages of an illness, one wants the presence of family and the absence of pain. The family is grateful to God for allowing her to leave in that manner.

Her parents and husband of 60 years preceded her in death. She leaves many loving and humorous memories to her son, Elijah McCall, Jr., five daughters, Hattie McCall, Maxine McIntyre, Lucille McLeod, Millie Bennett and Catherine Stubbs, 17 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; six sisters, Donalla Williams, Leanna McLaurin, Lilly Mae Williams, Mary Henry Bethea, Queen Easter Dupree and Costella Willis, one daughter-in-law, Christine McCall, three sons-in-law, Willie McIntyre, Sr., Charles McLeod and Carson Bennett and a host of nieces ,nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosie will be missed but never forgotten.
