Ronnie Lee Medley, affectionately known as “Romeo,” (63) was born on November 6, 1961, in High Point, North Carolina, to Rosa Lee McKinney Medley and the late Johnny Mack Medley Sr. He departed this life peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
A man of immense creativity and a beautiful spirit, Ronnie was a true artist whose gifts extended well beyond traditional mediums. Whether through his skillful landscaping or his love of music and gardening, he approached life with a unique and expressive vision. For Ronnie, the world was a canvas, and he lived with a passion and artistry that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ronnie was raised in the Carson Stout Housing Development and was educated in the Guilford County school system. He had a deep appreciation for music and was known for his ability to play various instruments. He was also a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in High Point, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Mack Medley Sr.; brothers Bobby Lewis Medley and Maurice Medley Sr.. Grandmothers Leola McKinney and Nannie Watson; Aunts Edith McKinney Pendergrass, Johnnie Mae McKinney, Paulette McKinney, and Helen Marie Medley Mackey; and Uncles Kerry McKinney, Buford McKinney, Troy McKinney, Roger McKinney, Perry McKinney, John Franklin Watson, Gary Nathan Watson, Breston Eugene Watson, and Bobby Lewis Medley.
Ronnie leaves behind a loving and devoted family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his mother, Rosa Lee McKinney Medley of High Point,NC; Daughter, LaRonya KaTessa Williams (DexTavian Sutton) of Raleigh, North Carolina; and two beloved grandchildren, Christian “Abraham” Sutton and Aryanna McKenzie Sutton
He is also survived by eight siblings: Sisters Johnnie Mae Medley, Dehavia Medley of High Point, NC. Trinette Everett of VA and Kim Medley of CA. Brothers Jeffrey Lamar Medley and Johnny Mack Medley also of High Point, NC. Dr. Derrick Keith Medley, and Patrick Dale Medley Sr. (Alesia Wakefield-Medley) of GA.
Additionally, Ronnie is mourned by his aunts: Aramintha McKinney Ware, Maureen McKinney Hyatt, Brunea McKinney Pinson, and Elaine Watson Tanner; uncles: Larry McKinney and John “Pete” Wesley McKinney III; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Ronnie’s warm heart, artistic spirit, and genuine love for life will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
