Robert Turner, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at the age of 65 years old.

Robert, born on July 10, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Mary Thomasine Walker. He was raised in New Jersey before eventually relocating and settling down in High Point, North Carolina, where he made his home. While establishing roots in High Point, Robert found the love of his life Barbara and became a cherished part of his community.

As a young man Robert was determined to be independent and not to be defined by his condition. He graduated from the Nash Technical Institute in 1979. Then he went on and landed his first job working at a gas station. Robert was a dedicated and hardworking man. He was employed with Industry for the Blind, Inc., for 24 years, where he worked as an assembler and packer of pens. His commitment to his work reflected the strength, determination, and perseverance that he carried throughout his life.

Robert was a member of Another Chance Ministries, where he found fellowship and community. He enjoyed playing Beep Ball, listening to music, and watching television. He was also a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite football team. Robert will be remembered for the life he shared with those around him and for the love he gave to his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terrence Walker.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Barbara “Janet” Turner, of the home; three siblings, Janice (Mark) Blue-Knight of New Jersey, Tammy (Darwin) Walker-Phillips of High Point, North Carolina, and Linwood A. Turner of Florida; a special niece, Shirley Harrington; a goddaughter, Kameshia Rorie; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Though Robert is no longer with us in body, the love he shared, the memories he created, and the impact he made will remain forever.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
