On Sunday, August 23, 2020, God whispered in his ear and said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Reverend William Boyd Finley entered eternal rest while at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital-Winston Salem, NC. William was born on June 6, 1941, to Jessie Boyd Finley and Evelyn Starks Finley in Greenville, SC.William was affectionately called “Bill” by his family and friends. He was a longtime resident of High Point, NC, for 55 years. He joined Mt. Calvary Holiness Church and later was ordained as a minister in 1971, under the leadership of Bishop McNair. Bill enjoyed working on cars at his workshop. He was known as the neighborhood dad and was loved by everyone he met. His humble spirit was heart-felt and respected. He was married to Louise Finley for 56 years, who he called “mama.” Bill was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Boyd and Evelyn Starks Finley; one sister, Nancy Finley; one brother, James Finley; and two nephews.He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Louise Finley of the home; two sons, Kenneth (Shemeka) Finley and John Finley both of High Point, NC; three daughters, Mary (Steve) Bowden, Julie (Anthony) Chandler, and Christy (Elton) Lawrence all of High Point, NC; two brothers, Jerry (Catherine) Finley of Gray Court, SC, and Julius (Diane) Finley of Simpsonville, SC; two sisters, Mary Ann (James) Turner of Greenville, SC, and Odessie Finley of Fountain Inn, SC; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Billie Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
