Ray Buchannon

July 29, 1957 — February 11, 2021

Ray Anthony Buchannon aka Sugar, was born on July 29, 1957 in High Point, NC, to the late Rueben and Gertrude Buchannon.  He made his transition from this earthly life on February 11, 2021.

He attended Ragsdale High School where he played basketball and football.  Ray enjoyed fishing, listening to music, gathering with family and friends and speaking his mind.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents as well as two brothers, Rueben and Ervin Buchannon, and one sister, Phyllis Buchannon.

Ray leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Dorothy, of 45 years.  Two daughters, LeTashia Lloyd of High Point and Lawanda (Carl) Jackson of Concord, NC.  One son, Ray Harris, of the home.  Grandchildren, Quartland Harris and Carmani Jackson of Concord, NC, Diamond Harris of High Point and two additional grandchildren and One Great-grandchild.  Four sisters, Sandra and Denise Buchannon of Durham, NC, Shirly Buchannon of TN, and Tonya Strickland of Greensboro, NC.  Two brothers, Duane Buchannon of Thomasville, NC and Chris Buchannon of Durham, NC.  Sister-in-Laws, Donna Buchannon of Christianburg, VA, Barbara Harris, Shirlon (Douglas) Brown of High Point, NC.  God-daughter, Denine Peace of High Point, NC.  A host of Nieces, Nephews and family.  Special friends: Odell Whitlock, Ricky Chapman, Donald Ray Martin and William “June Bug” Dawkins.  Ray had a special bond with his brother-in-law, Douglas Brown, they talked daily.
