Othelia “Mookie” Martin Campbell was born on was born on January 5, 1949, to Arthur Martin and Helen Clyburn Martin in High Point, NC. Mookie, as she was affectionately called, graduated from William Penn High School. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a devoted member of the mass choir until the time of her passing. Mookie worked for Acme Samples until her retirement.
She married the love of her life, George Thomas Campbell. From this union and love they raised three children.
Mookie loved to shop, travel and eat although cooking was NOT a skill she was blessed with. Her only specialty was cabbage because the family knew she couldn’t mess that up! She was titled as the “cabbage maker” for family functions. She also enjoyed beach trips with her grandchildren and trips to Detroit with her siblings.
On the morning of Saturday, August 23, 2025, Mookie gained her wings. She will truly be missed but her memories will live on.
Mookie was reunited again with her beloved husband, George “Skeet” Campbell; her parents, Arthur and Helen Martin; three siblings, Ophelia Martin, Joyce Martin and Arthur Martin Jr.
She leaves the cherish and honor her memories to her children, Shantee (Earnest) Crowell, Tony Campbell and Corey Campell; her grandchildren, Temperance, Miles, Chris (Tea), Courtney, Cordaisha, Audrina, Star, and Hunter and one great granddaughter, Amirah; her brothers and sisters, William Martin, Pastor Alphonso (Mary) Martin, James (Glenda) Martin, Earl Martin, Terry (Bertha) Martin, Otis (Betty) Lindsay, Linda Martin, Sharon Martin, Vicky (Wayne) Bryant; one uncle, Joseph (Brenda) Clyburn; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and church family; she also leaves her best friend, Frances Allen.
