Ossie Dowdy

Our beloved Ossie Laverne Dowdy, age 62, went on to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 4, 2026.

“Verne,” as she was affectionately called was born on November 5,1963, in High Point NC. She is the daughter of the late Charlie Rutledge Sr. and Annie Withers Rutledge.

Ossie graduated from T. Wingate Andrews High School. Earlier in life she worked for the Presbyterian Nursing Home. She was known for being family oriented and going to the beach with her children and grandchildren. One thing Ossie loved to do was make you laugh no matter what the situation. She was a member of Revelation of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ossie was also preceded in death by her late husband, Ronnie Dowdy Sr., one son, Dominique Dowdy; and two sisters, Charlene Alexander, Annie Marie Simon.

Those left to cherish her beautiful and loving memories include her four children; Tameka (Jeffrey) Haynes, Renee Dowdy Lewis, Ronnika Dowdy Lewis and Ronnie Dowdy Jr. all of High Point, NC; six grandchildren, Corey Jackson Jr., Tameria Jackson, Jaquan Perry, Carter Dowdy Lewis, Alecia Smith and Brianna Smith; one sister, Patricia Hill and a brother Charlie Rutledge Jr. all of High Point, NC; a devoted aunt, Brownie Miller; an uncle, Jo Lewis Withers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
