On Thursday, May, 2, 2013, the Lord welcomed Mr. Nelson Stanback, 74, into His Heavenly home.
Nelson was welcomed into this world by his parents, Harry and Elmirah Stanback on April 24, 1939.  He was born and received his education in Richmond County, NC.
Nelson grew up learning the value of good work and was a dedicated worker for Metal Creation until his retirement.  He married the true love of his life, Virginia Christian.  Together they enjoyed gardening.  Nelson had a passion for NASCAR racing, motorcycles and always enjoyed cruising around the town.
Nelson was a devout Christian and served as a Trustee, an Usher and sang on the Male Chorus.  He was a dedicated member of New Light Church of God under the leadership of Rev. Ray Brooks for many years and later joined Cedar Street Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Timothy Warren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Anne and Annah Stanback; three sisters, Rometta Pemberton, Maggie Taylor and Mattie LeGrande; two brothers, Vance and Pearl Stanback.
Mr. Stanback was a loving husband and wonderful father, his family and friends will miss him dearly.
Nelson leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Virginia C. Stanback of the home; his son, Steve (Tracey) Stanback of High Point; five grandchildren, Whitney, Justin and Bruce Stanback, Secoyoh Rorie and Chrishlin Ingram; one great grandchild, Heaven Williams; six sisters, Sue McCloud of Greensboro, NC, Ann Patterson, Nannie LeGrande, Polly (Henry)Steele, Joyce Pemberton all of Mt. Gilead, NC and Elnora Stanback of Biscoe, NC; one brother, Charlie (Dot) Stanback of Rockingham, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends and the Cedar St. Church family.
