Mary "Geneva" Kennedy

April 1, 1966 — July 19, 2017

On Wednesday morning, July 18, 2017, Mary Geneva Kennedy was welcomed with open arms into a never ending kingdom.   A place where no pain or suffering, sickness or disease may dwell but a place of peace, joy, happiness and fulfillment and most importantly a place of everlasting life.

“Geneva” as she was affectionately called, was born April 1, 1966 to Samuel and Rosa Mae Green Kennedy in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Geneva attended and graduated from The Governor Morehead School in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Geneva accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age.  She enjoyed listening to and singing gospel music.

At the age of 18 Geneva was diagnosed as being totally blind.   She did not let that stop her.  She had a desire and determination to learn to play the piano.   Through her challenges to find the right keys, Geneva taught herself to play the piano (what an amazing young lady)!  When she visited with family and friends she always enjoyed hearing others laugh and would start it by tickling everyone who walked by her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Rosa & Samuel Kennedy, Rosetta and Morris Green, Peggy Johnson; a nephew, Justin Tillman and an aunt, Dorothy M. Green.

Her memories will be cherished by her parents Samuel and Rosa M. Green Kennedy;  her sisters,  Rosa (Joeshan) James,  Barbara Jean Kennedy,  Angie Tillman, Alecia (Ronnie) Booker, Patricia Ann Kennedy and Lillie Mae James; brothers, Samuel Jarod Kennedy and William Johnson; nieces and nephews, LaTressa, China, Shymia, Myeshia, Kenyata, Chris, DJ, Zack, Desmond,  Davidian, Keisha and Shinead; aunts, Queen Kennedy, Annie M. Billups, Julia Durant, Rebecca (Thomas) Durant, Emma (Charlie) Andrews, Ellanora (Swanson) Hudson, and Joyce Borders; uncles, John Edwards (Janice) Green, James King, William Green, Cleo Benjamin, Joe Louis Kennedy , Franklin Kennedy, James Kennedy, and Johnny (Ethel) Kennedy; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
