Mary Davis Covington, 75, of High Point, NC transitioned from her earthly life to eternal life on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 13, 1946, in Wayne County, NC to the late William Henry Barnes and Doris Irene Wesley.
Mary attended Thomasville High School and later worked at Thomasville Furniture Industry. She was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church. “Mag” as she was called by family and friends enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and watching the Westerns.
In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie William Covington; two sons, James Barnes Sr. and Marvin Barnes; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Davis, and one brother, Paul Barnes.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Catherine (Oris) Hopkins of the home, two brothers, Henry (Mary) Barnes of Lexington, NC and Hildred (Sharon) Barnes of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, ShaRhonda Hopkins of Fayetteville, NC, Oris Hopkins Jr. of Columbia, SC, Justin (Breyona) Hopkins of Greensboro, NC, ShaQhonda Hopkins of the home, James Barnes Jr. and Tereia (Joshua)Spears all of High Point, NC; sixteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Covington of High Point, NC, and Hazel (Bruce) Woods of Rockingham, NC.
