Mrs. Margaret Rice Wilkes, affectionately known as “Barbara Jean” or “Bob” peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Margaret was born on May 28, 1950 in Sanford, NC to the late Lucille Rice Dunn and William J. Swann.
Margaret attended Lee County Schools and later attended High Point Public Schools, and GTCC once she moved to High Point, NC with her family. Margaret “Bob” was a very loving and caring mother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was known for her charming personality and sense of humor. She always had a bright smile on her face. Margaret was beautiful on the outside and even more beautiful on the inside. Margaret had a very special relationship with her granddaughter, GiGi and daughter Sheba Wilkes, who helped care for her during her time of illness. She was greatly attached to her children, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Demus and Julia Ham Rice and brother Demious Odell Rice.
She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories: her husband and soulmate for more than 50 years, Leon Wilkes of the home; four sons, Rodney (Sharon) Wilkes, Kendrick Wilkes, Orlando Wilkes, Marlin Wilkes all of High Point; three daughters, Sheba Wilkes of High Point, NC, Tanashe Jennings of Greensboro, NC, Kiesha Jennings of Charlotte, NC; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Linda) Rice of High Point, NC; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
