Joi Lisette "Joi" Hunter

Joilisette Nadiege “Joi” Hunter, age 39, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026.

Born on January 15, 1987, in Broward County, Florida, Joi was a woman whose joyful spirit, kind heart, and beautiful smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She embraced life wholeheartedly and found her greatest happiness in the people she loved.

Joi shared a bond with her mother, Linda Gail Brooks Hunter, like no other. Their love for one another was unwavering, and the strength, compassion, and unconditional love her mother instilled in her became the foundation of the woman and mother Joi would become. Today, we find comfort in the hope that they have been reunited once again in God’s loving embrace.

A proud graduate of Western Guilford High School, Joi enjoyed playing basketball and built friendships that remained with her throughout the years. She later dedicated more than a decade of service to the Greensboro Transit Authority, where she was known for her commitment, dependability, and caring spirit.

Joi truly loved life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing with friends, and making memories with those she loved. Her favorite color was pink, reflecting the warmth, kindness, and joy she brought into the lives of others.

Above all else, Joi’s greatest joy was being Momma. Jordan and Journi were the center of her world and the greatest blessings of her life. She loved them unconditionally and devoted herself to ensuring they always knew they were cherished, encouraged, and deeply loved. The love she poured into them will forever remain their greatest inheritance.

Joi was preceded in death by her father, Fletcher Carlton.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved children, Jordan-Lamar Boyd Hunter and Journi-Lisette Brooke Faison Hunter; her loving brother, Weslan Chaney Hunter, and his wife, Jacqueline Poage Hunter; along with cherished relatives, dear friends, coworkers, and all who were blessed to know and love her.

Though our hearts are broken, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and deeply loved. Joi’s legacy will continue through Jordan and Journi, whose lives will forever reflect the strength, compassion, and unconditional love she gave so freely. Her family is committed to honoring her greatest legacy by surrounding Jordan and Journi with the same love, support, and encouragement that she faithfully gave them every day. While we will miss her beyond words, we rejoice in knowing that love never ends and that the memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.
