Jerry Leroy Cooper was born March 13, 1951, in Marlboro County, South Carolina to the late James Willie "Candy Boy" Cooper and Bernice McBride Cooper. He was the sixth born of eight children.
As a young man Jerry dreamed of becoming a famous musician. He was very skillful while playing the guitar. Jerry was passionate about his music.
Jerry relocated to High Point, North Carolina, where he met his wife and mother of his children, Annie Livingston. They were blessed with two children, Timothy Cooper and their daughter,Gerri Lynn Cooper. Jerry worked many years for the city of High Point. He was a member of Love Fellowship Baptist Church where he gave his life to Christ.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Bernice McBride Cooper Rogers and Mr. James Willie "Candy Boy" Cooper; older sister, Edith Cooper; sister, Barbara Cooper and a brother, Thomas Cooper, also known as "Tommy C." Paul Cooper.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Gerri Lynn Cooper of High Point, North Carolina, his son, Timothy Leroy Cooper of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Minister Carrie (Richard) Nixon and Dorothy Cooper; one brother, Willie (Mattie) Cooper, all of High Point, North Carolina; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; also, his best friend, Rickey Haywood of High Point, North Carolina
