Janie Mae Crawford-Bethea known as “Kuta” or “Kuta-Cat,” age 74, passed away on April 1st, 2026, at Hospice Home in High Point, NC.
She was born on July 8, 1951, in Dillon, South Carolina to Edna McFadden Crawford and Harry Crawford.
Kuta was raised in South Carolina and was happily married in 1969 to the late James Bethea. They moved to New York City and later relocated to High Point, NC.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Kuta was preceded in death by her father, husband, and one son, Maurice Bethea.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her mother, Edna Crawford of Virginia Beach, VA; children, Lee (Evette) Crawford of Winston Salem, NC, Amy (Adolphus) Crawford-Garrett of High Point and Roman Crawford of home; a granddaughter who she raised Amelia Crawford of Lexington, NC; her siblings, Ernest (Sylvia) Crawford of Perris, CA, Edward (Debbie) Crawford of Brooklyn, NY, Lucille Sylvan of Virginia Beach, VA, James Crawford of Eastville, CA, Betty Crawford of Hampton, VA, Harold “Pete” (Vivian) Crawford, Jerry Crawford and Esther Crawford both of High Point, NC; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
