Harvey Robinson

April 25, 1931 — February 8, 2015

Mr. Harvey Robinson departed this earthly life on Sunday, February 8th, 2015 at the High Point Regional Hospital in NC. Harvey was born on April 25th, 1931 in Jefferson, SC to the late Joe and Mary Robinson. He was one of sixteen children. He attended school in Monroe, NC. Harvey met Laura Bell Kirby and they were married on February 27, 1954. From this union, three children were born Bernard, Sharon, and Baby Harvey Jr., preceded him in death. In 1955 Harvey and Laura moved to New York. Harvey was employed with Chuck-Full O'Nuts until his retirement. "Scooner" as he was called by his sportsmen friends, had many hobbies ; swimming, playing cards, shooting pool, talking crap and having the last say. Most of all he loved hunting and fishing. Harvey spent many hours at City Lake in High Point. He was considered the fisherman that hooks'em and cooks'em for "it is more blessed to give than to receive " -- Acts, 20: 35. Harvey's Christian journey began early as a child. He was reared Catholic attending St. Paul Catholic Church in NC. Harvey joined New Canaan (NCBC) in NY in July 1956 and was baptized by the late Rev. C.E. Lewis. Harvey held membership in the South Carolina, Pastor's Aide, Booster, North Carolina Clubs, Club "56" and the C.E. Lewis Gospel Chorus. Under the leadership of Rev. Richard Lawson at NCBC, Harvey was appointed the Chairman of the Trustee Board. Both Harvey and Laura relocated to High Point, NC in 1996 and thereafter joined the Living Water Baptist Church and attended service faithfully as dedicated members until death. Harvey ("Poppie" as he was called by his grands) leaves to cherish, two children, a son Bernard (Hazel) Robinson, Ft Worth TX, a daughter, Sharon Robinson-Mills, son-in-law, Alonzo Mills, four grandchildren, Shanise(Timothy) Simmonds, Alyssa and Alonzo Treshawn Mills, Jamaica NY, Chantel Robinson, Bronx NY, Daquon Bowers, one great-granddaughter, Royal (Tadpole) Sanai Bowers, Jamaica NY, one sister, Arceny Leonard, Jamaica NY, two brothers, Willie Meadows, Indiana IL, Elree Robinson, Monroe NC, brother/ sisters-in-laws, Otis (Kate) Kirby, High Point, NC, Eva Gilbert and Marshal Caple, Wadesboro NC, one step-brother-in-law, Grover Williams, Winston-Salem NC, a dedicated special friend and caretaker, Marie Graves, High Point NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, other relatives and friends. Harvey will be greatly missed. Thank God, for my soul is resting. Thank God for I have been blessed. Thank God for all who loved me. Praise God who loved me Best!
