Mrs. Gladys L. Wright was born on December 22, 1944, to the late Charles and Louella Palmer. On April 5, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet strength. Gladys was a devoted and faithful member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with a humble heart and formed deep, meaningful bonds with her church family. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who took great pride in her years at Merita Bakery, where her commitment and work ethic reflected the strength of her character. Known for her bold and unwavering spirit, Gladys carried herself with courage and grace. Even in life’s most difficult and fragile moments, she remained a fighter—giving her all with remarkable strength and resilience Her strength was not only seen in how she endured, but in how deeply she loved and cared for those around her.
Glayds found joy in cooking and sharing meals, using it to bring family and friends together, creating memories filled with warmth and love.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Dease, Roger Cousar, Jeanette Wright, and Vincent Cousar. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, dear friends, and extended loved ones who became family, all of whom will forever hold her in their hearts.
Gladys leaves to cherish her precious memories her four beloved children: Edith Joyce Coleman, Leasa Ann Wright, John A. Wright (Mary Wright), and Evans Patrick Wright; her five cherished grandchildren: Candice Palmer, Cadricia Blair, Arielle Thompson, Marcus Boyd, and Johnathan Sloan; and her adored great-grandchildren: Kahlen McKenzie, Kameron Palmer, Jocelyn Palmer, Novah Wright-Boyd, Mila Wright-Boyd and Davion Jones. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Richard Cousar, Bobbie Timmons, Elaine Cousar, Leroy Cousar, and Leroy Thompson.
Gladys will be remembered for her strength, her love, and the beautiful way she continued to fight and give—even in her weakest moments. Her legacy will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
