Felix Sherwood Roberts

November 16, 1958 — April 13, 2026

Felix Sherwood Roberts, born on November 16, 1958, in Shelby, North Carolina, Sherwood was the cherished son of the late Jennie B. Borders, whom he adored throughout his life. Sherwood completed his journey on earth Monday April 13, 2026 beginning his rest beyond this life and into everlasting peace. He moved from this world with a quiet strength and a spirit of hope that left imprints on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He graduated from Burns High School class of 1977, where he first became affectionately known as “Woody.” In his younger years, he was a talented basketball player and a DJ, always surrounded by music, laughter, and friends. He often reminisced about the unforgettable memories he shared with his close cousin and friend, Linwood. He created wonderful memories with so many people, friends and family. Sherwood later moved to Asheville, NC, where he built a remarkable career in healthcare. With compassion at the center of everything he did, he served as a CNA and Healthcare Technician at Copestone at St. Joseph Hospital from May 1995 to March 2007, and at ADAC Hospital in Black Mountain, NC from March 2007 until January 2023. With his tall stature, sense of humor and friendly smile; his colleagues admired him, his patients appreciated him, and his spirit made him a joy to work alongside. Shortly after retirement, he relocated back to High Point, NC.

A man of many passions, Sherwood had a natural gift for nurturing plants and became an expert in their care. He was a dedicated gym enthusiast, proud of his strength and appearance, and his sharp wardrobe became a signature part of his presence —especially his love of watches and shoes. He took pride in presenting his best self to the world. He enjoyed sports, and no team had his heart quite like the San Francisco 49ers. Above all, he treasured family gatherings, where his presence brought laughter, joy, warmth, and unforgettable memories. Throughout his life journey, he was a great dog trainer and was never without a loyal companion. His first dog, Lightfoot—a Doberman who was by his side for many years in his younger years. Later came Sain a chocolate Labrador Retriever who filled his days in Asheville with joy. Then came Kobe, a tri‐color American Pit Bull, and finally Flo, a fawn-colored Bully who became his inseparable best friend till the end. During his illness, Flo brought him so much comfort, joy, companionship, and unconditional love.

Approximately a year ago, Sherwood became ill, yet he faced every day with courage, HOPE, and unwavering determination! He was a man with incredible Faith. His caregivers often shared how much they enjoyed caring for him, describing him as a bright light and a joy even on the hardest days. Caring for Sherwood during his illness was an honor—one we count as pure joy. His strength, humor, and love will remain with us always. “The Four Golden Girls” — Jolane, Jorie, Jerri, and Courtney are grateful for the privilege of having been his caregivers. Sherwood was preceded in death by his mother Jennie B. Borders, and his brothers Steve W. Borders and Clay “Jaybird” Borders. He is survived by sister and care giver Jolane McCain of High Point, NC, Vickie Kee of Gastonia, NC and Gilda (Buddy) Clark of Shelby, NC, his brother Albert (Deloris) Borders of Waco, NC and sister-in-law Doris Borders of Shelby, NC.
