Evangelist Evonne Williams

On Sunday, August 9, 2026, Evangelist Evonne Williams with her daughter by her bedside, transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home. Evonne Williams was born September 29, 1955, to the late Luther Williams and Mamie B. Purnell Willimas in Marlboro County, SC. She attended the public schools in Marlboro County, SC. 

Evonne worked in the retail industry most of her life. 

She was called into ministry and became an ordained Evangelist. She worked tirelessly in various ministries sharing God’s word at various engagements. Evangelist Williams was a mighty prayer warrior for God’s kingdom. She was a former member of Evangel Fellowship and later joined New Jerusalem Cathedral in Greensboro, NC. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharon Denise Castro; four brothers, Bill Williams, Rev. James “Moe Boy” Purnell, James Luther “BaeBae” Williams, and Rev. Boyd "BJ" Williams. 

Evonne will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her devoted and loving daughter, Soneia Page of Garner, NC; three grandchildren, Ralphael Wright of High Point, NC, Rakeem Wright of Winston Salem, NC and Alexis Page of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Willie “Mook” Williams of High Point, NC: one aunt, Minnie Williams and an uncle, John Walter (Lousie) Williams; many close cousins and friends.
