Ms. Elnora Teresa Marks Lattimore was born to Thomas and Rader Marks on June 30, 1926, in High Point, NC. She was raised in a loving and praying home. She attended Guilford County Schools and graduated from the legendary William Penn.
Ms. Elnora was married to Gilbert Lattimore, and she was a member of Baldwin’s Chapel for many years. She served in various ministries in the church. Ms. Elnora enjoyed singing with her family and friends. She sang background for Shirley Caesar and the Back Camp Meeting Choir. They traveled to various churches, singing praises to the Lord. She was known for her powerful and anointed voice. A few of her favorite songs to sing were “Somewhere to Lay My Head,” “Stand By Me,” and “That’s Enough.”
She received numerous letters signed by several Presidents of the United States, as well as several awards for her community service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Camilla Tate; son, James Lattimore; husband, Gilbert Lattimore; sisters, Marie McCoy, Dorothy Johnson, and Geraldine Dunlap; brothers, Napoleon Marks, Finley Thomasson and James Shepherd; granddaughter, Tonya Lattimore; and grandson, Anthony Lattimore.
Left to cherish her memory are: her daughter, Donna Lattimore; sisters, Essie Marks and Nellie Davis; brothers, Thomas Marks (Marie) and Manuel Marks — all of High Point, NC; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, Katrina “Mickey” Parson; daughter-in-law, Mary Lattimore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
