Eleanor “Jackie” Conyers was born on August 24, 1947, in Pinewood, South Carolina. She was the biological daughter of the late Martha Ward and Alvirtis Lee Montgomery, Sr. She was raised in a Christian home by her parents, the late Maggie and Willie Montgomery, Jr.

Jackie departed this life after an extended illness on March 16, 2026.

Jackie was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Manchester High School in Pinewood, South Carolina in the class of 1965.

Jackie accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1975. There she became a licensed minister and completed her initial trial sermon in 2011. She was a speaker for various occasions. Jackie was a member of the Christian Education Department, Golden Girls, Senior Choir, Minister Council and Witness for Christ Ministry.

Jackie worked at Thomasville Furniture Industries and retired after several years with the company. She was also an entrepreneur, forming J & J services selling clothing and other items. Jackie enjoyed going to Wrestling matches and sporting events. She truly enjoyed traveling by bus or train. She was also a big Pittsburg Steelers fan.

Jackie loved people and thoroughly enjoyed talking on the phone with friends and family about various topics. Any friend of Jackie’s children and special daughters became her children too. Even as adults, they are always asking “How is Ms. Jackie?” She stayed abreast of world events and the lives of her favorite entertainers. Jackie’s personality was loving and feisty. She was what is known as “free handed” especially to children. She enjoyed her life and danced by the beat of her own drum.
