Elco Wright

May 12, 1921 — May 29, 2013

Elco “Pop” Wright, 92, died Wednesday. May 20, 2013.  He was the son of John & Rosanna Lindsay Wright, both deceased.  Born in Richmond County, North Carolina,
he moved to High Point at an early age.

He was committed to his church and was a great community supporter.  As a member of the Mayor’s Community Action committee, he was instrumental in the
installation of the sidewalk in the Washington Street/Gordon Street area up to
the Five Points area for pedestrian safety.

He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in High Point for more than 40 years
where he served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, deacon
and Chairman of the deacon board.  At the time of his death, he was deacon
emeritus of Christian Fountain Church in Winston-Salem, NC where his son-in-law
is pastor.

Deacon Wright is survived by his wife of 68 years, 11 months and 11 days, Edna
Terry Wright of the home; his children, Frederick (Janice) Wright, Sr., Brenda
