Dorothy Jones

Mrs. Dorothy Helen Jones, age 86 of High Point departed this earthly life on Friday, August 26, 2016 at High Point Regional UNC Hospital.  She was born in High Point on January 17, 1930 to the Mr. William and Mrs. Truly Murrell Gray.   A resident of High Point most of her life, Dorothy attended Guilford County Schools.

Dorothy relocated to Philadelphia, PA early in life and later relocated back home. She soon married Mr. Paul W. Jones.  She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  Mrs. Jones retired from Danco Textile, Inc.  She was a volunteer at High Regional Hospital, where she brightened the lives of every patient she came in contact with.

As a wife, sister, and loving aunt, Mrs. Jones had strong attachments to her family. Her evidence of love, care, and genuine concern was always expressed to them. She would support and show comfort as the pillar of strength for the family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Louise Cotton, Ethel Strickland, Margaret Dowdy; two brothers, James Gray and Thurman Gray.

Surviving relatives include her dear and loving husband of 54 years, Paul Jones of the home; step-daughter, Ann Jones of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Lillian Alston of High Point; one brother, Harry (Becky) Gray of Durham, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends.
