Dorothy Louise Holland

Dorothy Louise Holland, 84, of Huntsville, AL and High Point, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026. She was born in Albuquerque, NM.

Dorothy’s life was defined by helping others. Throughout most of her life she passionately served the elderly as an Activities Director at Adult Day Care centers and nursing homes. Upon retirement she began working as an in-home caregiver for elderly, freely giving her time and talents. She loved to helppeople and make those around her laugh. You never knew what she was going to come out with.

Dorothy loved her family. She treasured time spent together and found some of her greatest happiness in family gatherings and being surrounded by the people she loved. She loved to travel,especially the “girl’s trips with her aunt, Vicki Masso, who waslike a sister to her, and her cousin Trudy Rushing.

Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and generous spirit. She spent her life serving others and loving her family. She will be greatly missed, but her love and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Larry Jack Johnson (Rhonda), her daughter, Terry Ann Phelps (Ken), and; grandchildren, Brandon Crawford, Amber Hurst, Kristina Johnson and six great grandchildren; but MOST importantly her Teacup Poodle Zack.

She was preceded in death by her parents Irva William II and Florence Mae Scobee, her husband Byron Holland, her brother Irva William III (Smoo) and her granddaughter Amanda Casey

A graveside ceremony will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point, NC on Friday, August 28th where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Byron.
