On Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, Cornell Burrell Lewis, a One-of-a-Kind Funeral Mortician, age 66 of High Point, NC departed this earthly life.

Cornell was born in Tarboro, NC on August 28, 1955, to the late Nathan Lewis and Rosa Burrell. He graduated from Week-Way High School in Newark, NJ.

Cornell was intellectually stimulated at an early age working on his education. After graduation, Cornell enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. Cornell was a graduate of Shaw University and Fayetteville Technical Community College. He found his passion in the Mortuary Industry and provided a multitude of services to the public. Most notably Cornell was an elaborate part of People's Funeral Service, Inc. He was the master embalmer and made it his duty and priority to serve all families with dignity and respect during their time of bereavement. If you really knew Cornell, you knew that he was friendly and never met a stranger. His work history includes, Lightner Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC, Feggins & Feggins Funeral Service in Wake Forest, NC, Professional Mortuary Service in Durham, NC, Hargett Funeral Service in Greensboro, NC, he also served as a trade embalmer. Cornell was also co-owner of Miles & Lewis Funeral Home in Mebane, NC. He finished his last18 years with People's Funeral Service as Manager. Lewis as he was sometimes called was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and sang on the Male Chorus. He enjoyed singing old hymns and loved quartet music. Through his challenging health issues, Cornell remained positive, he kept a smile on his face and remained faithful.

On this day Cornell leaves blessing and goodness to his loving wife of 15 years, Yolanda Wright Lewis; his children, Shaloom Wilson of Virginia and Krystal Ruiz of Raleigh, NC, Ebony Wright of San Diego, CA, Jacques Wright, Jaleel Wright, Nykia Wright all of High Point, NC; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Rosetta Middlebrooks of Fayetteville, NC and Calista Lewis (Philip) Ricks of Philadelphia; two brothers, Bearen (Pamela) Lewis and Sterling Wilburn; mother-in-law, Annie Wright; Father-in-law, Dennis (Trevonda) Wright, Sr; in-laws, Pamela, Vivian and Timothy Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
