Catherine Jones

Catherine Jones entered the world on February 17th, 1958. She was the seventh child of ten children. Born into the union of Arthur and Ruth Johnson.

Cathy was educated in the New York school system; she was a graduate of Walton High School. She went on to further her education at Bronx Community College where she received her associate degree in early childhood development. Cathy worked for the New York Department of Education.

At an early age Cathy received Christ as her personal Lord and was baptized at the Greater Univeral Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Robert Wilbrite. Cathy enjoyed singing and ushering in Gid's house. Cathy was a praiser and she was called a "singing bird." She later joined Solid Rock Church of Hod in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Anderson. When Cathy and Joe relocated to Thomasville, they became members of Friendship Baptist Church. Cathy enjoyed visiting The Victory Center Ministries in Thomasville, with her sister.

Cathy was joined in Holy Matrimony with Mr. Joseph Jones and to this union was born a son, Joseph Shaheen Jones, Jr., after years in the Bronx, the family decided to relocate to Thomasville, NC.

On September 25th, 2023, an angel was dispatched to escort Cathy to her everlasting life. Cathy is now reunited with the love of her life, Joseph Jones, Sr. She was also predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Ruth Johnson, her brothers, Arthur Johnson Jr., Wallace Johnson and Charles Johnson and a sister, Ruthamay Hollins.

Cathy leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Joseph Shaheen Jones Jr, of the home, two brothers, David Johnson of Bronx, New York, Chris Johnson of Thomasville, NC, five sisters, Geraldine of Bronx, New York, Rose Manning (Willie), Elder Shirley Oyeyemi (Sunny) of Thomasville and Eleanor, "Carrie" Finch of Jacksonville, Florida, three godchildren, Minister JacQuez Johnson, Makeeba Johnson and Mykira Johnson of Thomasville, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Three very special friends, Sandra Gibbons, Jonathan and Eloise Zeller. Rest in Glory Cathy, we will miss you.

Though you are gone from our presence we will never forget you, Cathy, Rest in Peace.
