Anna Quarles

May 24, 1943 — June 22, 2022

Anna Virginia Johnson Quarles, 79, affectionally nicknamed Chasie, was born on May 24, 1943, in Dowell, MD, to the parents of George Washington Hutchins and Rose Mae Taylor.

Anna married Robert Quarles on September 28th, 1973, and from this union, three children were born, Jody, Letitia and Eraina.

Anna's love language was preparing meals for her family, the Solomon's Fire House, long-time employers, Holiday Inn Select of Solomons, or the Solomons Crab House, where she was honored for making the best crab cakes in Southern Maryland in the 90s.

Anna became "Grandma" to so many. She always kept her heart and doors open for people. If you encountered Anna, you knew you would receive love. Her love for people made her fierce advocate. If there was something that did not feel right or sit right with her, she was going to say it, and she meant every word of it. She would love to keep an eye out for her community at Dialysis. When she would tell a story and you would ask her if she said something, she would say, "You know I did." She would speak up for the needs of others before herself constantly. Her colorful language and unintentional comedic antics always made for social media posts that would have the masses laughing, little did Anna know she made people all over the world smile. Anna loved talking on the phone with her sisters, watching her Westerns or CSI, trips to the candy aisle, sitting on the front porch overlooking the neighbors and most of all, she loved being "Gigi" (great-grandmother).

Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, sister, Antoinette, Brother, Maurice and Grandson, Deontromaine.

She is survived by her children, Jody, Letitia and Eraina, her sisters, Ann Broadnax, Patricia Taylor, Rose Taylor, Deborah Johnson, Bridget Hutchins, Francine Clark (Roland Clark, Sr.), Pamela Shorter (Tim), her brothers, Melvin Taylor, John Bilal (Ruth), Phillip Hutchins (Linda), Grandchildren, Kristy Lancaster, Kevin Hall (Kathleen), Summer Jasper (Desmond), Robert Quarles, Keona Johnson, Dorisa Johnson and Dontee Jay-R Briscoe, great grandchildren, Shavonne, Aniya, Desmond, Dallas and a host of other family and friends.
