Americus Dunbar Jr.

On Friday, February 19, 2016, Mr. Americus “June” Dunbar Jr. departed this heavenly earth to spend eternity with God at Hospice Home at High Point.

He was born February 16, 1929 in High Point, NC.  A resident of High Point most of his life, Americus retired from the city of High Point and High Point Regional Hospital.  Americus was a former US Army veteran and served in the Korean War.  He was married to the late Theola McCray Dunbar for 50 years.  He was a very loving and devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theola M. Dunbar; one brother, Matthew Dunbar; a nephew and niece, Ulysses Oglesby Jr., and Ladonna Dunbar.

He leaves to cherish precious memories to his children, Brenda (Willie Jr.) McIntyre, Nita (Shad) Tate, Anthony Dunbar, and Bernard Dunbar all of High Point, NC; three sisters, Eula Dunbar, Delores (Ulysess Sr.) Oglesby and Diane Baker all of High Point, NC; two brothers, Richard Dunbar of Macon, GA and Robert Dunbar of High Point, NC; six grandchildren, Cory McIntyre, Shaneka Miller, LaToya McIntyre, Erica Dunbar, Chayanne Tate and Shanice Tate; 12 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
