Mr. Alfred Isaac Douglas Jr. , age 71 of High Point departed this earthly journey on Thursday, January 30, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born Alfred Douglas and Floeva Marshall Dawkins in Morven, NC on August 27, 1942. He attended the public schools in High Point and later become employed with Kinsey Mechanical Company as a sheet medalist and an electrician. Alfred known to many relatives and friends as "Pig or Pops." He never met a stranger and always willing to help others. His many talents included from working on cars, cutting grass or simply cooking. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley Strickland Douglas. They were blessed with five children from this union. The generosity of Alfred and his wife has gained several neighborhood children as their own. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Alfred D. Douglas Jr.; one daughter, Nancy G. Douglas; one brother and mother-in-law, Essie Strickland Murrell. He leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife of 36 years, Mrs. Shirley Douglas of the home; one son, Alfonso Strickland of the home; two daughters, Elder Brenda Lee Dixon and Tammie (Richard) Gibson of High Point; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, George (Mary) Douglas and Lee Ervin Livingston both of High Point; four sisters, Florence Johnson, Catherine McCollum, Annie Cooper and Deloris Covington all of High Point; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
