Steven Wright transitioned on Sunday, December 23, 2018 WFBMC in Winston Salem. Steven was born in High Point in 1983 to a musical and talented family.
He graduated from High Point Central High School and later attended college majoring in Entertainment.
Steven started out singing in the children choir at Living Water Baptist Church. However, he later started his own rap group. He later gave himself the performance name of Jaylis.
Jaylis was a rapper, singer, and writer with great songs such as Dreams and Go-Gettas. After establishing his well-deserved music career, he began traveling throughout the country performing with many other talented artists.
Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Doug Brown; paternal grandmother, Clara Wright.
He will be missed and always loved by his wife Melonie S. Wright; his children, Samyrra Wright, Steven “Lil Steven” Wright and Malaya Jordan; his father, Dennis (Trevonda) Wright Sr., mother, Annie Wright; his siblings, Pamela Wright, Vivian Wright, Yolanda Wright, Timothy Wright, Melissa (Carl) Ratley-Cook and Terrence Ratley; maternal grandmother, Geneva Brown; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and cousins.
