Gwendolyn McEachern Sanders was born on December 21, 1949, in Dillon, South Carolina to Howard Reedy McEachern and Inez Edith Clark McEachern. She moved to New York at the age of 18 where she later met and married David Lee Sanders on March 21, 1971, who preceded her in death March 19, 2019.

She graduated from Dillon High School, Dillon, SC. Later in life, she would continue her pursuit of a higher education attending North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC. She was proud to be an Aggie. “Aggie Pride”. She had a gift for music. Gwendolyn played the organ and piano. Her melodious singing voice was enjoyed by her family and church family. She also enjoyed the mountains and the beach where she found peace and solace. With her husband, they shared a love of Atlanta Braves baseball. Her children enjoyed watching her dance and dancing with her.

Gwendolyn became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on September 17, 1978. She was sealed to her husband and children in the Washington D.C. Temple on January 19, 1982. Gwendolyn was a woman of devotion to the Lord and service to others. Anyone who was blessed to know her became keenly aware of her unwavering faith. She loved and lived her religion. During her years in the church, she served in the following callings: Relief Society Counselor, Teacher and President. Her additional callings were Ward Missionary, Compassionate Service Leader and Gospel Doctrine Teacher. She faithfully served as an Ordinance Worker in the Birmingham Alabama Temple. She always set the bar of excellence and expectation high.

Gwendolyn was the oldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Charlene and Marie McEachern. She leaves her brother James Reedy McEachern to cherish her memory.

Gwendolyn is survived by and leaves a legacy for her two daughters, Sharon M. McGregor and Audrey D. Sanders; one son, David L. Sanders. One son-in-law, Vincent McGregor. Two grandsons, Stephen A. Holt and Fredrick D. Davis Jr. who lovingly referred to her as their Ma Ma. She was blessed to see her lineage extended to four great-grandchildren, Christian and Shanijah Howard and Romello and Hazel Holt; two sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth McCrae and Mary Spears, two nieces, Cristle Sanders and Alicia Compton (George), and a host of friends and extended family.
