On Saturday, July 1, 2017 Annette “Nettie Bell” Charles was called home by the Lord while at Hospice Home at High Point, following declining health.  She was born on September 6, 1943 in Washington, DC.

Annette’s education included Fairview Elementary and William Penn High School.  She was a dedicated employee of Guilford Packaging for twenty years where she was a machine operator.  She served as a housekeeper at Presbyterian for more than six years, and at High Point Regional Hospital in dietary for over 21 years where she later retired.

Annette grew up attending Brooks Memorial Methodist Church in High Point, where she was a member of the Youth Fellowship.  She was also a member of the Brownie and Girl Scouts of the USA.  Later she became a member of Solid Rock Baptist where she was an usher and enjoyed hearing the word of God and the wonderful ministry of music through song.  As a member of the distinguished Pointers Club she enjoyed their activities.  She loved to go yard selling, playing cards word searches, traveling, Casinos, watching Wheel of Fortune and her soap operas.

Annette was a loving and devoted mother. She will be remembered for many things in her earthly life.  Nettie Bell loved cooking, and will forever be known as one of the best fried fish cooks in town.  Not only fish but macaroni and cheese, chitterlings, anything you imagined if she cooked it, it would be delicious.  Opening her door and her table to all that entered, you could always count on getting a plate of something that was going to feed your soul as well as nourish your body.

She cherished her two remaining sisters (The Charles Sisters) and she talked with them on a daily basis.  They often visited with each other and their undying love and support for one another remained true through the miles that separated them by states.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willis Marion and Louise Charles, and one sister Marilyn Elaine Goss and one son-in-law William James Green Jr.

Annette leaves to cherish four children from her union with J. Houston Williams Sr., sons Jasper Williams (Inez) HP,  J. Houston Williams Jr. (Deborah) GA, daughters Sharon Green, HP, Cynthia Williams, GA.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Barbara Conway (Jasper) MD, Dorothy Tate (Thomas) MD; one special niece Alwana Goss, HP; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (special cousin Cecelia Fortson) other relatives and friends Carolyn Smith, Neese McCullough, Saundra Neely, Ramona McFadden.
